Last Fan Standing
Thulani Ngcobo, nicknamed "Ngcobo 2010" is the lucky winner of the MTN Last Fan Standing competition which will see him attempt to watch 38 games at the 2010 FIFA World Cup™.
The Last Fan Standing competition was the incredible consumer competition for the MTN8. The purpose of the competition was to give the ultimate South African football fan the most incredible football experience ever seen.
The all expenses paid prize will also give "Ngcobo 2010" the chance to try and break the Guinness World Record for "Most matches attended at a FIFA World Cup™ by an individual".
The Last Fan Standing competition saw eight finalists selected over the MTN8 tournament period. The eight football fans then squared-off in a 40 question multiple choice football trivia test. "Ngcobo 2010" was announced as the winner during half time at the MTN8 final live on SABC on the 24th October 2009.
The Last Fan Standing's prize is a record-breaking attempt to watch 38 live matches at the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ which includes the following:
- Match tickets to 38 2010 FIFA World Cup™ games with all expenses paid
- All 10 stadiums, 9 cities, 8 groups and at least 30 of the competing teams
- 28 pool games (including opening game), 4 round of 16 matches, 2 quarter-finals, 2 semi-finals, the third-place playoff and of course, the final
- Over 17,000 km's of travel
- Over 3,400 minutes of live FIFA World Cup™ football action
